Alissa Peltzman

Alissa Peltzman is an independent consultant who partners with states, foundations, and nonprofit organizations on college and career readiness initiatives. She focuses on closing expectation and preparation gaps through standards-based policy development and implementation, working policymakers and leaders across K-12 and higher education, as well as intermediary organizations.

Previously, Alissa spent more than 10 years at Achieve, most recently serving as Vice President of State Policy and Implementation Support. Her consulting work has included partnerships with Education Strategy Group, Education First Consulting, the Council of Chief State School Officers, the PIE Network, the Aspen Institute and the Gates Foundation.

Alissa began her education career teaching elementary school in Washington, DC through Teach For America. She holds an Ed.M. in Leadership, Policy and Politics from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. She lives in Montgomery County, Maryland with her husband and three children.
